Fantastic Sams comes to Hutchinson

The Fantastic Sams salon that opened Thursday at 725 Baltimore Ave. S.W. is the 26th salon Patti and John Prichard of Brooklyn Park have opened or acquired since 2004. 

The popular, full-service salon franchise known for affordable hair care for the whole family has more than 100 locations throughout the state and about 1,200 nationwide. The Prichards' locations stretch from St. Cloud to Faribault under their corporate banner of Kingdom Business Inc. The name reflects their religious faith. Their salons closest to Hutchinson are in Buffalo, Delano and Waconia. 

"We believe the Hutchinson community is a great place for a full-service, value-priced salon concept," said Patti Prichard. "We have been looking for the right location for the past three years and are excited to be part of this community." 

"We wanted to really visible and close to retail," John added. "What appealed to us about Hutchinson was that it was an appropriate size for us and the strength of its retail. And from a staff perspective, we sensed it was a good place to recruit." 

Before the couple became Fantastic Sams franchise owners, John was chief financial officer and chief operating officer for McGlynn Bakeries in the Twin Cities. They viewed Fantastic Sams as the best opportunity to build a business with multiple locations and are now the company's largest franchisee.  "We feel blessed to be in a successful concept," he said. "Fantastic Sams figured out how to deliver a high level of service at a fantastic value." 

For a limited time, the full-service salon will offer even lower prices on its wide range of affordable hair care services, which include haircuts, color, hair straightening and texturizing, facial waxing and more.  Fantastic Sams offers perks such as a free massaging shampoo and conditioning rinse with every cut. 

The Hutchinson Fantastic Sams is open seven days a week - 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. 

No appointments are necessary.  "That works really well, and our staff likes that, too," John said. "They feel they are more productive that way.  It kind of goes against the industry model."   The salon's phone number is 320-455-9317.
