It’s almost springtime, which means warmer weather and thoughts of getting out of the house for some fun in the sun. And for some of us, spring break is just around the corner.
You’re thinking about what to wear, activities to fill your days and those social-worthy photo ops…oh, and having a great time with your friends. One more thing, though, what about your hair?
Whether you’re heading out for a beach adventure with your besties, hanging by the pool or have another fun-filled plan, we’re here with some of our favorite ‘vacation hair don’t care’ looks for this spring break.
Classic beachy waves
Long hair or short, textured or straight and sleek, you can personalize the beachy waves look and make it unique to you. Go for lots of waves all over your head, or more of a subtle waved style.
Thicker or textured hair? You might need a smoothing product like our Smoothing Mousse to tame frizz and give a sleeker finish to your waves.
Add some gorgeous waves with a few flicks of a flat iron or curling wand, or plan your style the night before by twisting two to three inch sections of damp hair into small knots around your head, and sleeping on it overnight. By morning you’ll have waves, even if you’re not at the beach.
Accessorize your hair
When you’re on vacation, you want your hair to look fantastic, but sometimes you just don’t necessarily want to spend a lot of time styling it. Or, you could be battling saltwater hair, windy conditions or scorching sun.
Whatever the case, you don’t need another reason for wanting to try one of these super cute hair accessory ideas to keep your style fresh.
A standard cotton bandana is easy to pack in a suitcase and can be folded and tied in multiple ways to enhance your hair. Tie it in a top or side knot with the ends hanging free, move the tied part to the underside of your hair or experiement with folding and rolling widths to get just the right look for your vacation itinerary.
A lightweight scarf can double as a headband and hair-wrangler for windy days, and different patterns, textures and colors can liven up any outfit.
A wide-brimmed hat is always a great idea when you’re out in the sun, not only to protect your skin, but also your scalp and hair. Wide hats are both functional and fashionable, so choose a versatile color and style that pairs well with a variety of outfits.
If it’s too hot or windy for beachy waves and you’re just not feeling the hair accessories, choose one of these pulled-back styles.
The classic top knot or bun is a go-to for the beach or pool, plus it’s one of the easiest styles to pull off. Instead of using a plain elastic, though, opt for a patterned or tailed scrunchie to show off your personality.
If you’re all about the ponytail, be sure to spice it up with some of our favorite variations, like wrapping some hair around the elastic for a more polished look. You can also dress up a basic pulled-back look with trendy, colorful earrings and tinted shades.
Sleek ponytails look best with our Finishing Spray to hold the look through all your vacation fun.
For a more bohemian-chic style, braid your hair into one big, free-flowing braid, letting side strands fall. Add elastics throughout the length of the braid for support, and loosen up the hair in between for a voluminous vibe.
Whatever your plans this spring break, don’t forget about your hair! And if you need a little help channeling your perfect #vacationhairdontcare look, we’re standing by.
