How to Fake Your Way to Better Brows
Big, bushy, bold, beautiful brows: we all want them. But very few of us were born with them. Luckily, you don’t have to be born with outrageously thick eyebrows to have brows that are on point 24/7. Scroll down to learn all about how to fake your way to better brows.
First things first, take a hiatus. Quit fussing with your eyebrows for at least 6 weeks. Don’t pluck. Don’t wax. Don’t thread. Just let them be. You’re essentially setting up your brow canvas when you let them grow out.
If you don’t have adequate material to work with, you’ll never be able to paint the Mona Lisa.
Once you’ve laid the foundation for your brow transformation, you can start to sculpt and wax your eyebrows into the perfect shape.
When you're aiming for the perfect shape while waxing, be sure that you’re lining up your arch in the proper spot.
To make sure that you’ve got just the right amount of arch to your brow (so you don’t look shocked all the time), take your brow pencil and touch it to your nostril. Line it up diagonally with the center of your eye, and where the end of the brow pencil hits, that’s where your natural arch should be.
Now that you’ve got your arch figured out and all the excess fuzz has been waxed away, it’s time to talk about filling those bad boys in.
It is a truth universally acknowledged that the best brows rely on the best brow pencils.
If you haven’t already found a brow pencil that works wonders for you, now is the time to invest some time into research. Look for brow pencils that offer:
Strengthening ingredients, like panthenol and biotin
Lasting color or some sort of brow tinting
Natural hues that will mimic your hair color
Powder-based formulas that can be wiped off easily
Keep in mind that the #1 way to tip off to everyone that your brows are filled in is picking the wrong color.
Just as you’ve figured out how to pick the right shade of color for your hair, it’s equally important to learn how to spot the right color for your brow pencil.
When in doubt, err on the side of caution and go with something a little lighter than you think you need. No one wants to end up looking like Charlie Chaplin.
Finally, our last two pieces of advice for faking your way to better brows:
Beauty starts from the inside and radiates out. The best way to get better brows is to pay better attention to what you’re putting in your body.
Last but certainly not least, whatever you do, don’t overdo it.
If you find yourself quite literally drawing on your eyebrows every morning, you’ve gone too far. Step away from the mirror and drop the pencil. Take a cotton swab and some makeup remover, wipe it off, and start over. You’re aiming for a natural enhancement—not a full-on, surgical augmentation. Remember this mantra: less is more.
That’s it, ladies! Go on and get your big, bold, bushy, beautiful brow on!
